Like all freelancers, one of your constant challenges will be to find paying clients. Whether you are just starting out as a freelance speechwriter, or are an old hand, marketing your services will have to be part of your business plan.
As a speechwriter, you are occupying a very specific niche in the writing game. That can be to your advantage as generally speaking the narrower the niche, the more successful you will be. You will be seen as an expert. That said, selling speech writing services requires from specialized efforts, and this is what my Mastermind groups are all about.
Here is how they work.
Each group (we need a minimum of four people/maximum of six) will meet via conference call once every two weeks. Each participant will have the opportunity to discuss the sticking points in his/her business. It could be a problem with overall strategies, or a particular issue you may be having: cold calls, getting past gatekeepers, getting consistent work, or just getting noticed – to name a few of the issues we all face from time to time. While you have the “floor” for ten or fifteen minutes, the rest of us listen, and then make suggestions as to your next best steps. In short, we all act as each other’s board of directors.
Based on the suggestions made, you then make a commitment to implement one or two of them, over the two week period between sessions. At the next teleconference, you report back on what worked or what didn’t, and the group makes follow-up suggestions for the next best steps.
My job as moderator is also to make suggestions, — and to act as the guy who will kick you (gently) in the butt, so you get off your duff and take action.
So the question is, how serious are you about getting your business up and running? Every business takes work, and there are no quick rich schemes. But I have been successfully offering freelance speech writing services for over two decades. I know a thing or two about what works and what doesn’t when it comes to selling your services.
It should come as no surprise that the Mastermind group takes some effort and commitment on your part. You agree to participate in at least 4 sessions. Each session costs $50 USD for a total of $200 USD. If after that, you want to leave, that is the sum total of your commitment. Or you can sign up for a new round of four.
Over the years of leading Mastermind groups, I hear from participants that they find the sessions energizing, enjoyable, and a great catalyst for taking the next marketing steps for bringing their business to a new level.
I open up new groups as soon as I reach the required minimum of four participants. If you are ready to make the time and a relatively small financial commitment, please fill out the form below, indicate your interest, and I will get back to your shortly thereafter. Rest assured that filling out the form and sending it to me does not commit you to anything. If you are still not sure and want to discuss the details further, make sure to provide your phone number, and time zone in the body of the message, and I will be glad to answer any questions you may have.
